It’s 1952.
18-year-old Adeena Kahlo (Addie) loves her life in Chicago helping run her close knit family’s nightclub on the south side of the city. But Addie has a dream that she is determined to make reality. She will attend college in New York, and fulfill her desire of becoming a published author. Through a blind date she meets Alan, who becomes her best friend and closest confident, as they share a secret that they can never divulge to anyone else. Together they discover a door that leads to Cafe du Temp, a magical place that is like nothing they have ever seen. At Cafe du Temp they are treated as grown-ups, listen to soulful jazz, drink champagne and slowly begin to understand that its elegant and stunning ambience means something special to each person who enters its doors. It’s here, in this strange elegant place, that Addie meets and falls in love with the beautiful poet, Isabelle Androsko. Their chemistry is immediate and powerful, despite this they both soon discover that their vastly different worlds pose near impossible obstacles to the life they want to build together. Addie believes that the mysterious Cafe du Temp and its serendipitous existence in their lives is the catalyst to their future, and it’s this belief that transcends heartbreak, time, and success, to bring her to her ultimate destiny. |
